Description
French for 'The Quail', La Caille is Utah's premier destination luxury restaurant. Nestled stream-side in the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon, La Caille sits on some of Salt Lake's most coveted property with breathtaking canyon views and just 10 minutes from the Snowbird and Alta ski resorts.
Our history begins with Lester Johnson, a serial restaurateur and father of co-owner David Johnson, who in the mid 60's opened the restaurant "Quail Run" on the site where La Caille's business office now sits.
In 1973 David Johnson, who had been in San Francisco working in real-estate development, returned to Salt Lake and purchased Quail Run and its property from his father and partnered with La Caille co-owner Steven Runolfson who had been working under Lester at Quail Run over the previous decade.
Together they built La Caille's 'Chateau' and imported most of the antiques from France including the 18th century Brasserie glass, Parisian front gates, and Lyonaise armoires. La Caille opened its doors in 1975 and has been growing ever since.
Today, La Caille encompasses 22 acres and employs approximately 100 persons. We utilize four dining rooms, five patios, and a 12,000 square foot pavilion. La Caille also maintains several acres of vineyards along with an on-premise winery to produce our Seyval Blanc wine.
La Caille generally does not outsource its work. All of our maintenance and construction are done in house. Additionally, we create and grow virtually all of our floral & topiary arrangements in our on-premise greenhouses.
La Caille is renown for its French-Ecclectic food combinations. We offer a four-course menu featuring such dishes as Carpaccio, Fois Gras, Vegetable Napoleon, Venison, Rack of Lamb, Ahi Tuna, Eastern Duck and Filet Mignon. Please View our menu for a complete list of our offerings.
Though we are known primarily for our ambitious and unique food and atmosphere, we have committed ourselves to undertaking Salt Lake's most ambitious wine program.
We offer 32 wines by the glass, 455 wines by the bottle ranging in price from 15 to 3000 dollars, 113 liquors & spirits, and 29 beers & ales.
This growth represents increases in vertical selections, bottle format types, and the addition of many of the world's most sought after labels. Our Wine-Director and Sommelier Joseph Wright is on hand to answer questions and provide suggestions.
